The suspended Director-General of
the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Mounir Gwarzo, was today
arraigned on a five-count charge for alleged fraud.
He was arraigned by the Independent Corrupt
Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC).together with a
commissioner at the commission, Zakawanu Garuba.
They were both accused of abuse of
office and public trust for diverting over N114 million in June, 2015.
When the charge read they pleaded
not guilty
An application by barrister Abdulhakeem Mustapha;
Gwarzo’s lawyer ,led the court to grant the
defendants bond of N25 million each.
The conditions also include
producing two sureties in like sum who must be civil servants, not less than the
rank of deputy directorswho must be
working with the Federal Civil Service and must have landed properties in the
federal capital territory.
Both Mounir Gwarzo,and Zakawanu Garuba were
also asked to submit their international passports to the court registrar.
The case was adjoined till June 28.
