President Muhammadu Buhari has formally conferred on Chief M K O Abilola Grand Commander of the Federal Republic

President Muhammadu  Buhari has formally made the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993, Presidential election Chief M K O Abilola Grand Commander of the Federal Republic.
His son Kola received the award.
 
This conferment of  honour on him  took 25 years after the election, which is believed as the freest in Nigeria’s history and almost 20 years after the death of  Abiola  in detention after being imprisioned  by  General Sani Abacha for trying to claim his mandate
