Wherever you think you have arrived is where somebody else is starting.

Everyone has his/her own lane.

A Second Look At Sowore Cause

COPIED
MY LAST STAND ON SOWORE
By Erowos Eleyomo
Columnist

Those who live abroad obviously have a completely different outlook to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness than those who live in Nigeria. This does not make any point of view superior or inferior. After living abroad for over two decades, I find that the people in diaspora have become used to the right to protest, freedom of speech, assembly and the independence of government institutions to protect and defend them. Please note that this system itself is fraught with problems of racism, bias and injustice. It is not perfect.
President Donald Trump is testing the elasticity of this system to its limits. The silver lining here is that at least there is a system to test and it is being tested.

My brothers and sisters living in Nigeria have been abused, oppressed , maligned , robbed, raped and pillaged to the point where the only option is survival. They have to survive in a vicious system of dog eat dog. They have become used to dysfunction. Abnormality is normal. The s___hole  country  they live in is the the giant of Africa in their own eyes. The diaspora can speak grammar and return to the west. The home based have to stay home all the times and they have to make it work at all costs. They feel powerless in the affairs of their own nation and so they move around as if   All is well. They celebrate births, deaths and funerals like aristocrats. They drive Rolls Royces and Bentleys on flooded roads with open sewers that resemble hazard courses on a reality show from hell. On June 12 1993 a man won the first and only free and fair election in Nigeria, the man was hauled into jail and killed. The Nigerian elite simply shrugged it off and continued business as usual with the next guy. They celebrate mediocrity and reward criminal accomplishments with chieftancy , church and mosque titles. They celebrate when their Pastors and Bishops buy private jets and build Universities their own children cannot attend. They support the English premier league more than the English. They stab and kill each other when their English team win loses a match. They spend more money on Swiss, Korean and Chinese lace materials than any of these people do on their own textile materials. Nigeria is good and Nigerians are enjoying they say to themselves.

What am I really saying? Home based Nigerians eat, sleep, drink and party with the enemy. The educated elite in Nigeria cannot divorce themselves from the people who are holding the nation hostage. Pastors, Bishops, Imams, Alhaji’s, Chiefs and business people all hobnob with the powers that be. They are wearing white robes and carefully running through the palm oil mill being careful and hopeful that they would not get stained. Is that possible?

Who can make the Christian or Moslem heaven in Nigeria. The Nigerian heaven must be different from the heaven for the rest of mankind. We start and end every public meeting with prayer. I dare you as a Nigerian to take this test does not bribe police, custom, Lastma, Council etc. who has never paid “extra” to get their passport. How many dates of birth does the Nigerian have? How many different places of birth and even names does the average Nigerian have. Who lives in Nigeria and has never bribed NEPA or PHCN, sorry a local disco. Who in Nigeria has never “appreciated “ an official for doing his job.

We now have the “Nigerian Syndrome” that has replaced the “Stockholm syndrome”! I have read and I see my brethren fall over themselves to paint a Sowore as a villain for calling for a revolution. They justify the arrest and rearrest of Sowore as necessary for peace in Nigeria.  What a joke! Where is the peace in Nigeria. A country where they kidnap and kill people for fun. A land where you have to pay Omo Onile 5 times for the same land. A place where to paint your own house area boys would charge you money. A country where you need generator. Borehole, water treatment plant, security fence, security guards and air ambulance to live peaceably. A country where if you get shot and they rush you to hospital the hospital would request police report while you bleed to death. But guess what all this is normal. Biko Haram fighters are arrested and freed, soldiers are not given equipment to fight terrorists. Governors rule for 4 years and give themselves a golden parachute pension that can pay the pension of 10,000 pensioners who worked for 34 years and have to sit in the sun in their 80’s and 90’s to prove they are “alive”. Femi Kuti said plenty nonsense Dey for Nigeria and his father said we are suffering and smiling. In their collective foolishness, the Beast of no nation is celebrated as they live in sorrow, tears and blood( apologies to Fela). Nigeria deserves the rulers they have as the nation eats up its leaders.

They say government cannot fold their arms and look on for Sowore to distabilize Nigeria! The same way Saro Wiwa and his Ogoni brothers where terrorists and underwear abi. The same way Gani was  committing treason. The same way Dele Giwa committed similar offenses. Beko, Wole Soyinka, Fela where villans under various good Nigerian governments.

I guess there is nothing we can do about it. We are just different. So we have “ The abroad syndrome” and the “Naija Syndrome” . It is what it is. I am proudly Naija, suffering, smiling and looking good at the same time. I am proudly Nigerian, we have physicians and nurses in every hospital abroad but we don’t have health care in Nigeria. I am proudly Naija,  we have engineers and inventors all over the world doing great things but we don’t manufacture even tooth pick. I proudly Naija our music and Nollywood is shaking the world but our condition is like a horror flick every passing day.

As for me, I consider Sowore to be fool hardy. He should come back to his family in New Jersey, go back to eating burger and running in the park with his children. He would be able to enjoy hot water baths, 24 hours power, and good roads and have due process. Nigeria and Nigerians are fine with the Nigerian paradise. They don’t need an American agitator to come and spoil the peaceful, beautiful country they love. After all, Sowore wants to do is to cause problems in Nigeria and turn Nigeria into a country with no light, no water, no peace. He want to turn our beloved country into a hell hole. Sowore is jealous of the tranquility in Nigeria and he wants to ruin the nation and turn it into S—-hole America. He is a devil on assignment who is jealous of the law abiding Nigerian government and state. He wants to take Nigeria back from the prosperity and change democrazy has brought. The anti corruption fight has been so successful. Jagaban and his 40 angels have been doing a marvelous job in our paradise.

Sowore is a fool. My advise to him at this moment is to beg them, beg the Beast of No Nation in power, beg the 4 SANS and Constitutional  law professor Pastor in power in Nigeria to let you come back to horrible America. Nigeria is too good for you. It is a shame that you have chosen to fight for people who don’t want to fight for themselves and who would celebrate their oppressors and jail their liberators. The first rule in revolution is to find out if the people you are fighting for want to be free. Harriet Tubman said she would have freed more slaves if they knew they were slaves. Sowore come home and forget Naija.

Eleven Things You Should Do In 2020

*11 THINGS EVERYBODY SHOULD DO IN 2020*

Written by *Din shariff*

*1. Pursue* something. Don't walk in the entire 365 days without having something particular in mind to achieve. Start a building project, buy a car, pay some school fees, start some job. Just do something!

*2. Walk* with people wiser or stronger than you. In 2020, surround yourself with people who will inspire you, who will make you feel you can do better, who will challenge you on.

*3. Check* your dressing or appearance. Don't put on 'anything' just because it covers your nakedness. Your appearance tells a lot about you. Iron your dress neatly. Don't wear dresses in the name of fashion or trend . Wear more decent but fitting dresses. This is the slogan: Simple but Classy.

*4. Check* how you talk. Before you open your mouth, be minded of who you are talking to, where you are talking, when you are talking and also know that your integrity is at stake. In every situation, choose silence over speech unless you don't have any option.

*5. Visit* old people's home to appreciate them also orphanage and children in need of special care.  Don't let them feel unwanted or neglected in the scheme of things.

*6. In 2020,* be more prayerful. You can't live your life thinking things occur merely logically. There's a Supreme Being who makes things happen, pray to him.🙏

*7. In 2020,* start thinking or planning towards doing more for humanity.

*8. In 2020,* always think Positive while being Realistic. When you see tigers praying to God, don't join them. You can be positive that they won't 'chop' you since they are praying but be realistic too that after the prayers, they'll remain tigers and God will feed them with flesh.

*9. Buygifts* for your love ones.    In 2020, try and do something 'small' for parents . You have no idea what  goes on in their minds  Let them feel you are not far off

*10. In 2020,* Invest more, save less, spend less. Put your money into investment ventures. Buy T-bills, buy shares, buy fixed deposits, import some goods and sell, be a stock broker, etc. In fact, get more than one stream of income!

*11. Many known names* have gone and life goes on. . The point is, don't work your life out. You won't take your work with you when you die. You are not as important as you think, calm down. Take time off work, go and do medical check-up, visit your family, visit gardens or the beach and appreciate nature, etc.

Knowledge Is Better Than Wealth

#timetogetitright ON KNOWLEDGE

A learned and well known philosopher once replied to a group of ten learned men who said, *'We seek your permission for our asking a question from you.'*

The philosopher replied, 'You are at perfect liberty.'

They said, *'Of knowledge and wealth, which is better and why?*. Please give a separate answer to each. The learned philosopher answered in ten parts:

1. Knowledge is the legacy of the Prophets; wealth is the inheritance of the Pharaohs. Therefore, knowledge is better than wealth.

2. You are to guard your wealth but knowledge guards you. Therefore, knowledge is better.

3. A man of wealth has many enemies, while a man of knowledge has many friends. Hence, knowledge is better.

4. Knowledge is better because it increases with distribution, while wealth decreases by that act.

5. Knowledge is better because a learned man is apt to be generous while a wealthy person is apt to be miserly.

6. Knowledge is better because it cannot be stolen while wealth can be stolen.

7. Knowledge is better because time cannot harm knowledge but wealth rusts in course of time and wears away.

8. Knowledge is better because it is boundless while wealth is limited and you can keep account of it.

9. Knowledge is better because it illuminates the mind while wealth is apt to blacken it.

10. Knowledge is better because knowledge induced the humanity in our Prophets to say to GOD 'we worship thee as we are your servants.
While,  wealth engendered in Pharaoh and Nimrod the vanity which made them claim god-head.

Seek knowledge, peace and wealth will follow.

If you feel this information is of value and benefit to you, you have a moral obligation to share the knowledge  with others."

Raw Potato Juice Cures Cancer

CANCER HAS BEEN DEFEATED:

Extremely URGENT ! Please spread this text and benefit the world!

“Cancer can be cured: Vitamin B17”

Cancer has been defeated few decades ago, the truth has simply been concealed.
The cure only started to be publicly known when the internet was developed.

If there is cancer in one’s body, it is of utmost importance to intake big amount of B17.
In today world where the chemotherapy industry is worth 70b USD, those who rely on cancer for a living far outnumbers those who die of cancer.

“There are more and more people whose decease have been cured by raw potato juice treatment”

There are more and more people who manage to cure their decease by drinking raw potato juice, it is said that cancer cells can be effectively controlled.

This treatment was first provided by Japanese Zen monk 富澤知芳, and compiled by Khun 孫建永.
Those who can’t bear to drink can add honey or half an apple.
Heavily ill patients have to be guided by the doctor when consuming this.

Every kind soul who comes cross this alternative treatment should publicize this to benefit the world.

“In this year, there are many cancer patients who are undertaking this treatment, and many of them are recovering gradually, some of those who were thought to be hopeless were saved because of this. They phone in to express the sheer joy from their hearts.”

Zen monk 富澤知芳 who advocates this raw potato treatment receives resounding feedbacks from cancer patients all over Japan, thus he decides to publicize this again. Clinical trials examples of raw potato juice treatment.

Raw potato juice treatment not only can cure cancer, it also cures liver decease, diabetes, gastric ulcer, kidney disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, low back pain and shoulder pain etc. And there are more and more patients with all kinds of deceases being cured by this. If you are being tortured by chronic decease, please give this a try.

Monk 富澤知芳 has a famous book “DO of health – cancer is not scary”, in there he said the following, “Despite undertaking cancer surgery, but because of wearying of cancel cell spreading or imperfect eradication, anti cancer agents or chemotherapy are repeatedly applied. But we seldom heard about anyone having their cancer completely cured. Moreover, the side effects of these treatments are significant, causing people to lose appetite, causing bodies to weaken rapidly, on the contrary, potato treatment has no such side effect, and can recuperate body strength, improve immune system, it really is a highly nutritious food. If applying this treatment over the long time, you can possess the magical power of subduing cancer cells.

Raw potato juice treatment poses no danger. Anyone can implement this immediately, and actually feels the effect within very short span. Those in pain, after drinking potato juice for 1, 2 weeks, the pain will gradually be relieved, those who are not in pain, once persisting this treatment for a while, the appetite will recover, you will look better, and the body strength will slowly recover.

“Procedure of making raw potato juice”

The amount of potato needed for first preparation, big potato 2, 3 pieces, small potato 3, 4 piece.

1. Wash potato cleanly, remove all sprouting parts
“Note: sprouting potato and green stems contain Solanine, could poison people and cause severe stomach inflammation, must be very caustious when consuming it”

2. Grate into pieces (with skin) with vegetable grater, after grating wrap them in clean woven cloth or cotton hemp cloth with big pores, then squeeze it hard to squeeze out juices. Each time, approximately 180-200ml raw juices can be squeezed out.

3. Drink these juice 30-60minutes before breakfast and dinner on an empty stomach. If possible, drink 1 glass before dinner, everytime drink immediately after preparation, and daily persistence is most important.
Those who have weak body, and cannot drink the whole glass in one go, can split the drinking into multiple times. Those who don’t like to just drink raw potato juice, can mix it with about 30ml of enzyme fruit juice or honey, if mixed with apple juice it will be easier to drink.

“Note: Once raw juice is squeezed out it must be finished immediately. Drink for 2 weeks consecutively, the treatment will show effectiveness. After effectiveness is observed, continue to drink.”

But Monk 富澤warns patients sternly, do not treat raw potato juice as medicine. He says, those who drink raw potato juice but not alter their indulgent lifestyles, can be said to see potato as medicine bottles, when they are ill, they don’t control their lifestyles, they just simply hope that deceases will be cured by medicine. We are all sick for a reason, such as gluttony, liking delicious food, unrestrained staying up late, these are all causes for sickness.
Only when you drastically change your previous lifestyle that raw potato juice can be the panacea.

“Analysis of nutrition content of potato”

Potato is seen as “apple of the earth”, obviously it is a highly nutritious food. It contains very rich Vitamin C and calcium, in Germany since antiquity, drinking juice from crushed potato has been used to cure stomach ulcer and incontinence.

Potato contains rich Vitamin C, Vitamin B, iron, phosphorus and calcium. Once vitamin or minerals are absorbed by the body, the blood in blood veins can flow unobstructed. As such, blood pressure can be maintained on a stable level by consistently drinking raw potato juice.

Potassium in the potato can help the body to discharge sodium, thus benefitial to the recuperation of high blood pressure patients and nephritis patients. Potato also contributes to weight loss, maintenance of stomach, improvement of pancrease, hydration of body, relief of inflammation and detoxification.

Furthermore, raw potato juice is observably effective against hay fever, eczema and constipation. Those with chronic liver decease can recover quickly after drinking raw potato juice, severe constipation can be treated. Drinking raw potato juice can eliminate urine protein. Raw potato juice can improve physical strength. Drinking raw potato juice can get rid of chest pain without the needs of medicine. Moreover, stiff shoulder and sore waist will not happen again.

Be Grateful

*I Wept Uncontrollably...*

*The Worshippers in Prison*

Years ago, our group had gone to visit the medium-security prison in kirikiri, Lagos (now called correctional center). We took along with us foodstuff and items like slippers, soap, tissue paper, etc. just to bless the inmates.

Having arranged with the officials, we made to have fellowship with the worshippers in prison. Without much prompting, the leaders, who were prisoners themselves, rallied the rest to the venue of the meeting.

The medium-sized hall was quickly filled. After opening prayers, the singing started. Like it was yesterday, I still remember the passion and the energy with which they sang. The enthusiasm was contagious. What struck me the most was the excitement and joy that radiated from these indivuduals.

I looked again and saw the inscription "CC" on the chests of some of them. I knew that meant "Condemned Criminal." These ones were not waiting for judgment. No! They were waiting for execution, which could come to them anytime, without notice. The State had already condemned them to die. The lady who led the praise session was herself on death row. Some of those who gave testimonies were death row inmates.

These people lived under extreme conditions, for obvious reasons, but they had such inexplainable joy! Their human rights and freedom had been taken away yet they sang passionately.

Most of them had very little to hope for, yet they were still grateful. This joy had no explanation in any mundane or earthly thing. Nothing in this world can form the basis of the deep peace some of them radiated.

Invariably, the joy and enthusiasm this group exuded conspicuously dwarfed those from us - the freedom-enjoying worshippers. This was obvious to all of us visitors.

My brethren then asked me to share a Word of Exhortation. My eyes teared up as I surveyed the environment. I started with a song but soon got lost in thought at the sight of these worshippers, so jubilant behind bars. It became difficult fighting back the tears so I excused myself from the hall briefly and sought a concealed space to cry. Oh, I did cry. I sobbed uncontrollably!

I wept because it was obvious to me I had been ungrateful. I was so ashamed of myself for ever complaining. Deep in my heart, I had been complaining instead of being grateful to GOD. I had my freedom intact and many things to hope for but I had allowed myself to be bogged down by a few life's challenges. I let these take away my joy. I couldn't sing joyfully, spontaneously and freely like these fellow worshippers, some of whom had only the hangman's rope or several years of incarceration to look forward to. My self worth, passion and morale were down even as I "performed" my deligated duty.

I cannot remember what message I preached that day. All I know is that I visited the prison to minister but I came home with a Ministration. The worshippers in prison had preached the message, *"Be Grateful!"* to me.

Friends, I do not know from where you are reading this piece. You might have so much more to hope for, and to be grateful for, than you care to remember right now.

It's possible you might have been taking stock of the year 2019 and wondering how poorly you have performed. Time and opportunities lost may be taking a toll on your joy. You may be wishing you took more productive and profitable strides. Regret may even be setting in as you look around and see what tremendous progress friends and neighbours have made this year.

Please pause for a while and think again. If your freedom was not permanently taken away like the worshippers I described above, then you have so much to be grateful for.

Let nothing steal your joy. Unfulfilled dreams and aspirations will want a seat at the apex of your thoughts, seeking to depress you. Never let them; no! - don't give them a dot of space.

2019 is just a number according to the Gregorian Calender. It is not the end of your life, or its opportunities. Some like Ethiopians that use the Coptic Calender are still in the second month of their year 2012 - you have to believe me on that. Do not allow any pressure of life depress you.

To him that is joined to the living, there is hope. As long as you have breath in your nostrils, you have so much to hope, and to *be grateful* for.

Lets *Be Happy!* Let the Joy of GOD be your strength.

With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.

The Other Side Sowore Case.... Copied

HE IS NOT A HERO BUT A BIRO!

You believe that Dieziani stole and returned US$90Billion when Sowore was paid by buhari and APC to diseminate that lie of the century. Sowore damaged Dieziani's reputation and you clapped

2. You believed that Jonathan created Boko Haram and that Jonathan also kidnapped Chibok girls when APC paid Sowore to spread that propaganda.

3. You believed that Jonathan was the worst President of Nigeria when APC paid Sowore to blackmail Jonathan.

4. You praised buhari when he arrested and re-arrested Dasuki even though a court granted him bail and thanked Sowore's SaharaReporters for exposing Dasuki. Dasuki is still in detention this moment and nobody is actually talking about it, thanks to Sowore.

5. You praised buhari when ElZakzaky's children were killed along with hundreds of his followers, thereafter, ElZakzaky himself and his wife were brutalised, arrested, illegally detained and re-arrested after they have been granted bail.

6. You praised buhari when Oliseh Metuh was arrested and re-arrested and Sowore was the one publishing fake documents that indictated Chief Olisa.

 7. You praised buhari when Dokpesi was arrested, intimidated, detained and his business almost destroyed just because his Media outfit ran a documentary on the real corrupt buhari before the election.

 8. You believed Sowore, when ElRufai was using him to circulate the lies that Jonathan was arming and sponsoring Boko Haram because he was using them to kill our military personnels in order to remain as President.

9. You praised Sowore when he was paid by APC to use his Sahara Liereporters to destroy the already battered image of Nigeria by supplying CNN and BBC with fake and damaging stories of how Jonathan was at war with the North, thinking that he was destroying Jonathan and Patience Jonathan.

10. Your #RevolutionNow political lawyer (Falana) was APC Lawyer, and he interpreted the part of our constitution that gives buhari power, arbitrarily, without recourse to the principles of Separation of Powers, to sack Onnoghen as the CJN, which is the position of the Head of Judiciary, an independent arm of government that is completely separate from Presidency and with no link to buhari's office. If not that Falana is shameless, he will not be representing a criminal just because of mere re-arrest, when he actually worked tiredlessly to build the platform the president is using to re-arrest Nigerians today.

So if I praise buhari now that he is doing his job as expected, what is wrong with that?
Buhari is constant. There is no change in buhari's dictionary. Anyone that is complaining about buhari just because buhari is doing what he has been doing since 1960 till date needs to see a psychiatrist.
We will keep reminding you all that buhari is completely the opposite of Jonathan. If you think you will do to buhari exactly what you did to Jonathan, be prepared to face death by hanging via hate speech.
Sowore was the major social-media mercenary used by APC to blackmail Jonathan and his government. Sowore is being devoured by the monster he fed.
It is an insult to history for someone like Sowore to be described as a hero. He is just a BIRO that is thrown away when it runs out of ink.
Sowore is paying for what he did to a goodly and godly GEJ.

You can't put off another man's candle and expect your own light to shine.
Karma is at work!

Teaching Students National Values

Teaching National Values, Citizenship, and Patriotism to Students

It is important that we emphasize the importance of Patriotism and nationalism to pupils.
Teachers should find ways to demonstrate patriotism by finding positive things to say about the country. The teacher has to demonstrate confidence in the national values of the country, has to be patriotic.
Teachers must show pupils the essence of being a Nigerian, must show them that there is much to celebrate as a citizen of the country.

Alongside emphasizing important national characteristics and culture, here are some simple suggestions for creating a patriotic atmosphere in your classroom:

- Ask pupils to recite the national pledge and national anthem.

- Explain the meaning behind the national pledge and anthem.

- Educate pupils about the essence of our democracy.

- Educate pupils about the importance of national unity.

- Ask pupils to write an essay on what it means to be a citizen of Nigeria.

- Teach pupils about the significance of some national events.

- Ask students to draw the map of the country.

- Celebrate national figures who have contributed to the country's development and unity.

- Tell students about heroes who have done great sacrifice for the country.

A Simple Disadvantage Of Technology

Nice message 👌

I had spent an hour in the bank with my dad, as he had to transfer some money.  I couldn't resist myself & asked...

''Dad, why don't we activate your internet banking?''

''Why would I do that?''
He asked...

''Well, then you wont have to spend an hour here for things like transfer.

You can even do your shopping online. Everything will be so easy!''

I was so excited about initiating him into the world of Net banking.

He asked ''If I do that, I wont have to step out of the house?

''Yes, yes''! I said. I told him how even grocery can be delivered at door now and how amazon delivers everything!

His answer left me tongue-tied.

He said ''Since I entered this bank today, I have met four of my friends, I have chatted a while with the staff who know me very well by now.

You know I am alone...
this is the company that I need. I like to get ready and come to the bank. I have enough time, it is the physical touch that I crave.

Two years back I got sick, The store owner  from whom I buy fruits, came to see me and sat by my bedside and cried.

When u r Mom fell down few days back while on her morning walk. Our local grocer saw her and immediately got his car to rush her home as he knows where I live.

Would I have that 'human' touch if everything became online?

Why would I want everything delivered to me and force me to interact with just my computer?

I like to know the person that I'm dealing with and not just the 'seller' . It creates bonds. Relationships.

Does Amazon deliver all this as well?'''

Technology isn' t life ..
Spend time with people .. Not with devices.👍🏼
Indeed, technology is a beautiful thing, but it can never replace human relationships and interactions. 🤷🏼‍♂

LASTMA INTRODUCES MOBILE DEVICES TO TRACK TRAFFIC OFFENDERS

LASTMA to Track Traffic Violators with Mobile Device

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has said all arrangements have been concluded to unveil a mobile device to electronically track and issue tickets to traffic law violators in the state.

The Deputy General Manager of LASTMA, Comptroller Isaac Adetimiro, said this at a forum organised to explain the device and its functionality in Lagos on Friday.

Adetimiro said that the device, Traffic Management Solutions (TMS), was meant to capture videos and pictures of traffic violations in real time as they occur, without threat of harm to the traffic officers.

According to him, this technology has become imperative to efficiently and effectively manage traffic without creating further traffic flow obstruction through interaction of LASTMA officers with violators on the road.

The LASTMA boss said with the device, LASTMA’s officers would no longer physically and verbally engage violators on the road, but only use it to take videos and picture evidence of the violation.

On the operational process, he said that the Traffic Violation Management System (TVMS) through the device included data capturing, data processing, and data storage.

He said that the violation time, date, place and location would be captured and the device would transfer videos and pictures to the data processing centre for scrutiny, which would enhance transparency in the fines for offences.

Adetimiro said: “Captured violations are reviewed in our Violation Processing Centre to verify beyond any doubt that a traffic violation was committed and that the correct corresponding value of the legal fine is attached to it.

“This significantly reduces erroneous violation notifications being sent to vehicle owners. Anytime a violation is processed against any vehicle, the owner gets an SMS notification.

“The violators have 48 hours to either make payment or challenge the said violation at the court of law. If any of these is not done, action and enforcement will be taken against the violators.”

He said that the Violations Processing Centre would also provide an estimated employment for up to 3,000 qualified residents at kick off.

According to him, all processed violations are saved into individual violation files and uploaded into centralised data storage banks for safe keeping.

He said that such would be archived until they were recalled any time the need arose, for verification of violations, viewing video and picture evidence of the existing violations, or for the payment of violation fines attached to them.

The LASTMA boss said: “Every vehicle owner has a right to challenge a captured violation of their vehicle by clicking the challenge button on the website or mobile application.

“The vehicle owner would be required to go to the nearest traffic court to have the violation reviewed.

“The court will be provided with the stored video and picture evidence of the captured offence and the vehicle owner will be allowed to explain to the court why the evidence should be disregarded.”

He said that the court’s ruling and decision on the matter would be final if any violator challenged a violation in court.

Adetimiro said that vehicle owners should also be checking the status of their vehicles through free online checks, short codes and client app for any violation against such vehicles.

He said that the TMS would resolve the perennial traffic gridlock caused by traffic violation in a densely vehicular populated areas of the state.

The LASTMA boss said that it would eradicate the problem of payment of bribes to traffic officers, as only electronic payments guarantee the clearance of a violation from the violators list.

THE FOUR HORMONES RESPONSIBLE FOR HAPPINESS IN HUMAN BEINGS

*4 Hormones* which determine a *human's happiness.*  Worth reading

As I sat in the park *after* my *morning walk,*
My wife came and slumped next to me.
*She had completed* her 30-minute jog. *We chatted* for a while. She said *she is not happy* in life. I looked up at her sheer disbelief since she seemed to have the best of everything in life.
*"Why do you think so?"*
"I don't know. Everyone tells I have everything needed, *but I am not happy.*
"Then I questioned myself, *am I happy?  "No,"* was my inner voice reply.
Now, that was an *eye-opener for me.*
I began my quest to *understand the real cause* of my *unhappiness,*
I couldn't find one.

I dug deeper, *read articles,* spoke to life coaches but nothing made sense.
*At last my doctor* friend gave me the answer which put all my questions and doubts to rest.
*I implemented* those and will say I am *a lot happier person.*

She said, *there are four hormones* which determine a *human's happiness -*
1. *Endorphins,*
2. *Dopamine,*
3. *Serotonin,*
and
4. *Oxytocin.*
It is important we *understand these hormones,*
as we *need all four* of them *to stay happy.*

Let's look at the *first hormone* the *Endorphins.*
*When we exercise, the body releases Endorphins.*
This hormone helps the body cope with the pain of exercising. We then *enjoy exercising* because these Endorphins will make us happy.
*Laughter is* another good way of *generating Endorphins.*
We need to spend *30 minutes exercising* every day, read or *watch funny stuff* to get our day's dose of Endorphins.

*The second hormone is Dopamine.*
In our journey of life, we accomplish many *little and big tasks, it releases* various levels of *Dopamine.*
*When we get appreciated for our work at the office or at home,* we feel accomplished and good, that is *because it releases Dopamine.*
This also explains *why* most *housewives* are *unhappy* since they *rarely* get *acknowledged* or appreciated *for their work.* Once, we join work, we *buy* a car, a house, the latest gadgets, a *new house* so forth. In each instance, it *releases Dopamine* and we become happy.
Now, do we realize why we become happy when we shop?

*The third hormone Serotonin* is released when we *act in a way that benefits others.*
When we transcend ourselves and give back to others or *to nature or to the society, it releases Serotonin.* Even,
providing useful information on the internet like *writing information* blogs, answering peoples questions on Quora or *Facebook groups will generate Serotonin.*
That is *because* we will use our *precious time to help other* people via our answers or articles.

*The final hormone is Oxytocin,*
is released *when* we become *close to other human* beings.
When we *hug our friends* or family *Oxytocin is released.*
The *"Jadoo Ki Jhappi"* from Munnabhai *does really work.*
Similarly, when we *shake hands* or put our *arms around* someone's shoulders, various amounts of *Oxytocin is released.*

So, it is simple, we have to *exercise every day* to get *Endorphins,*
we have to *accomplish* little *goals* and get *Dopamine,*
we *need to* be *nice* to others to *get  Serotonin* and
finally *hug our kids,*
friends, and families to *get Oxytocin* and we will *be happy.*
*When we are happy, we can deal* with our challenges and *problems better.*

Now, we can understand *why we need to hug a child who has a bad mood.*

So in order to feel more and more *happy* day by day ...

1.*Motivate ourselves to play and have some fun*
*-Endorphins*

2. *Appreciate others* for any small or big achievements
*-Dopamine*

3. *Inculcate sharing* habit through you to others
*-Serotonin*

4. *Hug* your family, friends......
*-Oxytocin*

*Have a Happy Life*.

JSS LAGOS PUPILS DRUG TEACHERS TO CHEAT IN EXAMINATION

*‘JSS Pupils Drug Teachers To Cheat During Exams’*

- byTajudeen Adebanjo

A JUNIOR secondary school pupil has shocked a gathering of educationists in Alausa with a revelation.

*The boy told the audience how fellow pupils drugged their teachers to cheat during examinations.*

A parent also said she was severely distressed by her neighbour’s child drug abuse.

These were the revelation at the seminar organised by the Conference of Private Schools Associations in Lagos State (COPSAIL).
The event held at the Adeyemi Bero auditorium, Alausa on Monday.

Its theme was “Danger of Illicit Use of Hard Drugs Among Our Youths.”

During the questions and answers session, the courageous boy stepped out to ask a question.

He said: “How do we solve a situation whereby fellow pupils drugged our teacher in order to cheat during examinations?”

The boy said once they add the substance in the drink, the teacher, after taking it, will sleep off all through the exams period and the pupils will be able to cheat.

He appealed to the state government to look into the matter.

Immediately after the boy’s expose, a parent took the microphone to narrate how she developed her neighbour’s child’s drug abuse distressed her.
According to her, the child’s parent did not know that he was abusing drugs.

“I don’t know how to inform the child’s mother. She is my neighbour. We live in Ikorodu. She is the type that goes out in the morning and returns at night. The boy has friends who indulge in this illicit act,” she said.

Responding, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Education Mrs Abosede Adelaja said parents and teachers need to pay close attention to children.

She described the drugged teacher as careless. Mrs Adelaja said moral decadence is on the increase in the society.

She said: “I’ll not dispute that because if the children have not seen it or heard of it here, they won’t say it. We all need to go back and take care of our responsibility on these children be it parents, teachers or guardians. The kids are our future.

“If we see any negative behaviour or some changes in these children, we quickly find out what could be the cause. Most of the times parents are too busy looking for money for the children’s upkeep and the children use the opportunity to engage in so many social vices. To keep them busy, I’ll suggest more attention be paid to children.”

 _Happy Call to Bar 2019._
[11/30, 08:53] Mr Popoola: *CHILD DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY*

 Acquittal Principles vs Maquital Principles

According to a recent study by Workman *Teachers Volunteer on the effect of words to a child education development*

There are two psychological syndrome found to be responsible for child academic performances: the acquittal effect and maquital effect.

The acquittal principles says that when a child's mind is redirected by higher expectation, it leads to an improved performance and thus when words like....

*You are brilliant*
*You can do better*
*You are not lazy*
*You are a good child*
*You like to study*
*You can improve*
*You don't steal nor lie*
*You are going to be great* are constantly used on a child,

the mind effect of that child doubles its intellectual reception factors and the child performance keeps improving

but this is however not so with the maquital principles which says that when a child is pricked with lower expectation, the performance of the child drops to the extent of their psychological trauma.

Bad words,such as...

*You are from a single parent*
*You are dull*
*You lack parental care*
*you are not a bookworm*
*You are a bad child*

does not help a child to learn and shouting on a child hinders their potential intellectual growth tendencies.

The obvious summary of acquittal and maquital principles is that, the state of self esteem, self worth and self perception of a child is built by words whether to the negative or to the positive

Parent, teachers and guardians have been adviced to help improve on their children/wards academic performance by redirecting their minds with influential words as this was seen lacking in many children during this research expedition across different schools and in that of under aged communities.

The Difficulty Commuters Go Through From Lagos To Onitsha

LAGOS TO ONITSHA WITH EASE

By Tony Onyima

Concerned by the increasing complaints about the pains of Nigerians plying the Lagos-Onitsha route, I decided to seize an opportunity on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 to find out the real situation. For complete experience, I traveled with one of the transporters at Jibowu. After an excruciating traffic along Redeemed Church corridor, we finally commenced the journey to Onitsha at 10:30am. By the time we arrived the Niger Bridge, I had counted 60 checkpoints. I was painstakingly taking notes and few shots. These checkpoints were manned by either soldiers, police, customs, SARS, FRSC or a combination. Below are the locations of the checkpoints to guide your next trip to Onitsha.

There Is Eternal Consequences

ONE MINUTE PLEASURE

Mrs. Jonah sat in the principal’s office crying her eyes out and pleading for mercy. She repeatedly pleaded with the principal to give her son, Gabriel Jonah, another chance. But the principal was not ready to bulge.

The principal calmly said, “Mrs. Jonah, there is absolutely nothing I can do in this case. I wish I could help you, but unfortunately it is beyond my capacity to do anything about it. It was a tough decision for the management but after examining the case critically, both the members of the academic board and the disciplinary committee unanimously agreed that justice has to take its due course irrespective of the person involved.

Every staff of this school, including my humble self, attests to the fact that Gabriel has been a good boy from the time he entered into this school till now. But that notwithstanding, examination malpractice is one of the things this school has zero tolerance for.

It grieves me to see you weeping this way, but my hands are tied. It may also be in your best interest and that of your boy that he be made to serve this penalty. May be that would help him to learn some vital lessons against future life events. He is only going to miss one academic session, which means he will have to repeat SS 2”.

Mrs. Jonah turned to her son who all the while buried his face in shame and leaning against the wall in the principal’s office weeping uncontrollably and asked, “Gabriel tell me under God what made you to do it”.

Gabriel: Mummy it was the work of the devil. I thought I was being smart. When you gave me the food you brought from home during the last visiting day, you told me that I should be smart so that I would not be caught. And I actually finished eating the food you brought without being caught.

I remembered your advice, “be smart when you want to do such things so that you will not be caught.” On Monday I felt I could apply the same principle to my exams since I was not fully prepared for the paper. I wanted to be smart – to help myself. I didn’t know Mr. Bonny was standing at the window. Mummy, I have never done this before. But I thought I could be smart.”

Prostrating full length on the floor he moaned bitterly, “Oh my God! Please ma, help me! I am done for! I have learned my lessons; I will never do it again”. Sob sob…..

Note: the school Gabriel was attending is a boarding school, and parents are not allowed to bring cooked food to their wards during visiting day. Only snacks are allowed. But many parents usually disobey this rule; such parents would conceal the cooked food and, through any possible means, sneak it into the school for their children.

On this particular occasion Mrs. Jonah gave the food to her son and counseled him to be “smart when doing such things to avoid being caught by the authorities”.

I hope you can pick the bits of the story now?

Let us not go back to the principal’s office, but what was going on there was that Gabriel was caught with a text book during an exam and her mother was invited to the school where she was given the verdict that her son was going to repeat a class.
That is the punishment for exam malpractice in their school.

Gabriel’s dad is late and his mother has been struggling to pay his school fees from J.S.S. 2.

Matters arising from the story:

• Many parents have ruined the destiny of their children because of momentary pleasure. In order to give them few minutes enjoyment or even few years of freedom such parents fail to inculcate the right values into their children.
• Parenting is a type of leadership focused on influencing, inspiring and motivating your children to know and do the right thing, and ultimately become who and what they are destined to be. What type of influence are you to your children? Are you inspiring them to become better, or, are the natural good traits in them expiring under your influence? Are your parenting efforts motivating your children towards excellence, or towards indulgence and self-gratification?
• Don’t destroy your children’s tomorrow today. Be careful what you do with them today so that their tomorrow will be carefully packaged.
• Even if there is nothing else you can teach your children, teach them that God is above the throne, sees everything and knows everything. Let them know that they cannot hide anything from God; even their deepest thoughts are well known to Him. They should therefore never think of doing anything evil, anytime, anywhere, because God will definitely see them.
• Groom your children in such a way that they will have choices in life. If your children are ill-mannered and ill-prepared they will have no choice but to take whatever life throws at them. They will be at the mercy of whatever others and the society have to offer, whether good or bad.
• Do not give your children the impression that there is a shortcut to everything they want in life. Rather teach them that they will always have what they want if they work with God, and also work hard.
• There are parents who in the name of fashion have turned their very young children, especially daughters, into raunchy dolls. And same parents will wake up tomorrow to complain that the internet is promoting indecent dressing among their teens.
• At times parents forget that what goes round comes around. They consciously encourage their wards to disobey constituted authorities. That is why we find parents going to fight with teachers in the school for making their children to do the right thing. Such children take pride in being law breakers. And it does not end in the school; sooner or later the parents will get their share of the pain.
• Your children will do what they saw   you doing more than what they heard you saying. If you want them to tell the truth always, then your lips must not utter lies whether they are there or not. Be their example in everything good.
• May you not prod your children to do things that will ruin their lives and thereby make them to hate you for life.
• Stop manufacturing excuses and lies to cover your children’s failures. Let them feel the brunt of their actions and/or inactions and learn valid lessons from them. Don’t be the kind of parent that will tell their children to tell the teacher in the school that they (the kids) were sick the previous day and that was why they could not do their home work. Meanwhile, the children watched television all day long and the parent did not remind them to do their homework.
• Note: you cannot love your children more than God loves them. Therefore, stop moving them against God. Stop encouraging them to do things that are against the will and laws of God, all in the name of showing them love.
• Each time you teach, encourage or support your child to do anything ungodly, you are putting that child into a speed boat racing towards imminent doom and destruction.
• Learn to put a check on yourself by asking yourself these vital questions from time to time, “in the future, what will be the result of this action or lifestyle I am encouraging my child to take or live? Does it have any lasting and eternal value? Even though I feel good about this, and my child is obviously happy with it, is God happy with me? Am I being a good custodian of the precious children God entrusted into my care?

Dear parents, if at the end of the day your parenting efforts succeeded in raising children who are  temporarily happy on earth but permanently sad in eternity you are of all men most miserable.
May God help us. Amen.

Qualities In A Good Text Book

Factors You Should Consider In Choosing a Textbook.

In this 21st century, textbooks have gained a broader significance beyond their use as a teaching guide. Good textbooks help students learn how to learn, inspire positive values and attitudes, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
In choosing a textbook, it is important to consider noteworthy qualities such as contents, learning, teaching development, structure and organisation, textbook layout and technical and functional significance.

Here are some values you should consider in choosing a textbook:

- Textbooks should align and conform with the objectives and components of the curriculum. Good textbooks should reflect the aims, content, learning objective, and assessment of the curriculum.

- Focused on the development of practical skills for equipping students with skills and knowledge to cope with the challenges of the future.

- Good textbooks should emphasize learning beyond the classroom.

- Textbooks should be interactive, contain lessons to inspire the interest of students, and actively engage their minds in the learning process.

- Quality of language.  Language used in textbooks must be coherent, and accessible to students in order to facilitate independent reading and engage with lessons on their own.

- Textbook Layout. Good textbooks should be well organized, space and margin  utilised properly, contain illustrations that enhance learning, and designed in a way that the materials and contents succinctly and clearly describe the aims and objectives of the lessons.

- Data and information used in the textbook must be accurate and relevant.

 *Answer:* No.

*Question 33:* What are the modern anti-hypertensive drugs?
*Answer:* There are hundreds of drugs and your doctor will chose the right combination for your problem, but my suggestion is to avoid the drugs and go for natural ways of controlling blood pressure by walk, diet to reduce weight and changing attitudes towards lifestyles.

Save A Life Today

From a surgical nurse and certified CPR teacher:
Please pause for 2 minutes and read this:

 1. Let’s say it’s 7.25pm and you’re going home (alone of course) after an unusually hard day on the job.
 2. You’re really tired, upset and frustrated.
3 Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to drag out into your arm and up in to your jaw. You are only about five km from the hospital nearest your home.
 4. Unfortunately you don’t know if you’ll be able to make it that far.
 5. You have been trained in CPR, but the guy who taught the course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself.
 6. HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE? Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.
 7. However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.
 8. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital.
 9. Tell as many other people as possible about this. It could save their lives!!
 10. A cardiologist says If everyone who gets this mail kindly sends it to 10 people, you can bet that we’ll save at least one life.
 11.

WAEC EXAMINATION REPORT FOR 2019

*SOME 2019 WAEC WITHHELD / OUTSTANDING RESULTS HAVE BEEN RELEASED WHILE SOME WERE CANCELLED. ALSO SOME CANDIDATES WERE BANNED FROM WRITING WAEC FOR SOME YEARS.*

This is to inform candidates whose 2019 WAEC who were not able to check their result because it was withheld / outstanding, that some of the results has been released.
This was disclosed in WAEC NEC meeting which was held from 5th – 7th November 2019.
According to the press release, some candidates result were released while some cancelled. Also some candidates were barred from writing the exam for some years.

See details of the WAEC 2019 NEC meeting below:
The Committee, which is the highest decision-making organ of WAEC on examination-related matters in Nigeria, meets twice a year, to consider matters relating to the conduct of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates and Private Candidates. Its statutory Chairman is the Chief Federal Government Nominee on Council. Membership of the Committee comprises four representatives each, of the State Ministries of Education and the Department of Education of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, ANCOPSS and the Universities. It also includes the Registrar to Council, the Head of the Nigeria National Office, the Head of the Test Development Division (TDD) and the Head of the Test Administration Division (TAD) of the Council.
During the 68 th Meeting, the Committee received reports on Irregularity, Special and Clemency Cases arising from the conduct of the WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2018-Second Series and the WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2019-First Series, earlier considered at the 67 th Meeting of the Committee. The Committee also considered a report on the conduct of the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2019, as well as Irregularity Cases arising from the conduct of the examination.
In the course of considering the various reported cases of malpractice, the Committee, after diligent deliberations, approved appropriate sanctions in all established cases of malpractice, as prescribed by the Rules and Regulations governing the conduct of the Council’s examinations. It approved that the entire results of candidates involved in proven cases, which attract Cancellation of Entire Results (CER), be cancelled, while subject results of those involved in proven cases, which attract Cancellation of Subject Results (CSR), be similarly cancelled. In addition, some candidates will also suffer other sanctions such as barring them from sitting for the Council’s examinations for a certain number of years, some schools will be derecognised for a specified number of years, some supervisors that were found wanting in the discharge of their examination duties will be formally reported to their employers and blacklisted while some
invigilators will also be reported to the appropriate authorities for disciplinary action. The decisions of the Committee will be implemented without delay and the affected candidates and schools duly informed by the Council. However, the results of candidates who were exonerated by the Committee will be released.
Furthermore, the Committee considered Special Cases, Clemency Appeals from the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2019 and Restitution Cases as well as Impounded Certificates for various years. The Committee also received a report on the Statistics of Entries and Results for the WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2018-Second Series and WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2019-First Series. In addition, it received and considered the General Resume of the Chief Examiners’ Reports on the WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2019-First Series and the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2019. It also received and considered reports on the Activities of the Aptitude Tests Department (ATD), for the period March to September, 2019 and on the Activities of the Research Department of the Council for the period April to September, 2019.
With regard to the General Resume of the Chief Examiners’ Reports on the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2019, the Committee noted the observation by the Chief Examiners that the standard of the papers compared favourably with those of previous years and that the questions were within the scope of the syllabuses as well as the ability of the candidates. They also reported that the rubrics were clearly stated and the marking schemes were comprehensive.
The Committee noted the strengths and weaknesses of the candidates as reported by the Chief Examiners and the suggested remedies for the weaknesses.
It frowned at the high rate of incidence of candidates bringing mobile phones into the examination halls and called on schools, invigilators and supervisors to enforce the rule barring mobile phones and ensure proper supervision during the conduct of WASSCE.
The Committee decried the penchant of Ministry of Education officials in some States to hijack the process of appointment of supervisors and urged WAEC to liaise with principals of schools and ministry of education officials in those States to ensure that only credible teachers are appointed to supervise the WASSCE.
It, however, observed that some subjects were going extinct because of the dearth of teachers in those subjects leading to poor performance of candidates and called on governments at various levels to stem the tide.
The Committee noted with admiration the fact that WAEC made arrangements for students with special needs and the improvement in the performance of female candidates during the conduct of the examination and commended the Federal, State and Local Governments for encouraging girl-child education without neglecting the male child.
Finally, the Committee commended the Council for deploying the Variable Data Printing technology; the scanning and electronic marking of some subjects for the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2019 noting, that those actions have helped to check examination malpractice.

Outbreak Of Gastrointestinal Disease In Parts Of Lagos

LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT

MINISTRY OF HEALTH

PRESS STATEMENT ON OUTBREAK OFGASTROENTERITIS

·         Outbreak subsiding & under  control

·         Govt. caution public against misleading news making the rounds

The attention of Lagos State Ministry of Health has been drawn to some misleading, alarming and sensational reports especially on some social media platforms about the outbreak of Gastroenteritis that was experienced in the State in the past weeks.

Of great concern is a voice note currently circulating on Whatsapp which emanated from an unidentified individual purportedly linked to one of our health facilities misinforming the public about the alarming deaths rate occasioned by the disease thus creating fear. This, we believe is the handiwork of mischief makers with an intent to deliberately cause panic amongst the populace

While we appeal for calm, it is pertinent to note that these misleading reports are made up, spurious, incorrect and do not represent fact. Citizens are hereby advised to disregard any news about the disease that did not emanate from the official communication channels of the Lagos State Government, the Ministry of Health or it officials.

It is true that an excess increase in the cases of Gastroenteritis was reported in some local government areas (LGAs) particularly in Lagos Island, Surulere, Mushin and Ajeromi since mid-October. This is now under control as a result of the policies and interventions that we have put in place and I want to assure you that we are on top of the situation.

Following the report of the outbreak, Rapid Response Teams at the affected LGAs led by the Medical Officers of Health were activated, stool specimen were collected for laboratory test to confirm the micro-organism causing the vomiting and diarrhea while surveillance have also been scaled up in communities within the affected LGAs to stop the spread of the infection.

We have been able to send some samples to our laboratories and some of those samples tested positive for a type of cholera but we are not sure whether cholera is responsible for the entire outbreak of diarrhea and vomiting but we are sending some other samples to other laboratories and we are going to do some in-depth analysis to see whether this is just a case of cholera or whether there are other pathogens or agents that are contributing to this outbreak

As at today, 400 cases of gastroenteritis have been recorded in health facilities in the affected LGAS. 370 of these cases have been treated and discharged. Unfortunately, we have also recorded 11 deaths due to the outbreak. The increase in number of cases of gastroenteritis is not unconnected with persistent rain with flooding of some LGAs in the State.

We have been very proactive in our response and management of the excess cases of vomiting and diarrhea occasioned by the outbreak. As part of our response, we have activated an emergency operation centre (EOC) which is a command and control centre so that we can fine tune logistics and resources around our response against the outbreak.

Since the activation, the EOC which is made up of representatives from the Ministry of Health, Primary Health Care Board, Health Service Commission, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), World Health Organization and Central Public Health Laboratory amongst others have been meeting on a daily basis; collating results, reviewing plans and interventions as well as suggesting and coordinating the implementation of measures to effectively curtail the spread of the disease and manage future occurrences promptly and effectively.

The EOC is made up of sub thematic areas of research, surveillance, case management and infection control, laboratory, communication and advocacy, pharmacy, security as well as logistics and data management. Also, our disease surveillance officers at the State and local government levels are currently carrying out intensive surveillance to stop the spread of the disease.

We have also put in place and still carrying out some measures and specific action plans like upgrade of infrastructure in our health facilities especially the PHC level; recruitment of more health workers; increasing the supply of drugs and consumables to health facilities; continuous clearing of drains and improving the supply of clean and portable water to residents, so that in the future, when we have this climatic situation where there are excessive rains, we should be in better position to respond very quickly even in a very more efficacious way.

Although, Lagos is prone to seasonal infectious diseases like gastroenteritis because of its demography and low line megacity nature, we will however not relent in our effort to respond to any water born or airborne outbreaks that may happen in our State whilst ensuring that citizens remain safe and healthy.

Gastroenteritis is caused by micro-organisms like those causing typhoid fever, cholera and certain viruses. It can be contacted by eating or drinking contaminated foods such as uncooked seafood.

Patients with gastroenteritis present with severe acute watery diarrhea and profuse vomiting. Those infected with micro-organisms causing the disease shows signs and symptoms within 12 hours to one week after ingesting contaminated food or water. The disease affects both children and adult and can kill within hours if untreated

Members of the public are hereby advised to take precautionary measures by paying due attention to personal hygiene and environmental sanitation by keeping their environment clean, avoiding open defecation, ensuring drains are clean and imbibe the culture of regular hand washing.

We encourage you to wash your hands with soaps and water frequently and thoroughly, boil your water before drinking especially if the source is in doubts, wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before eating; cook food thoroughly and dispose waste material properly. You are advised to visit nearest health facilities early when you are sick and avoid going to work or school where you are likely to infect others.

Health workers are also advised to take universal safety precautions when dealing with patients, practice good hand washing techniques and report any alarming increase in cases of gastroenteritis-vomiting and diarrhea to the Medical Officer of Health in their local government or the Directorate of Disease Control.

For reports, clarification and more information on the outbreak of gastroenteritis, citizens and health workers can contact the Directorate of Disease Control through these lines: 08023169485 and 08023608195.

Thank you.
