There are different ways to group media.
Print and non-print media, electronic media
· Print media. They include any paperwork journals: books, jnewspapers, workbook, textbooks

Non-print media: they include: projected and none projected media
· Electronic media: are: Audio media, Visual media and audiovisuals.
Projected media & non-projected media
· Projected media: they require light source for projection. E.g. film projector slides etc.
· None projected media: light source are not required . They are three dimensional objects, two dimensional objects, prints, charts, models
Audio media, Visual media and Audio-visual
· Audio media: this form of media are sounds carriers alone. such as. audio tapes audio cassettes , record player,
· Visual media: These are the ones that can be viewed like television computer, all types board
· Audio-Visual: this term refers to those instructional materials which provide learners with audio and visual experiences by appearing to the hearing and seeing senses at the same time. , video tapes, closed circuit television
Software/hardware
· Hardware: are machines used in the instructional activities . It is upon these gadgets that the software is passed example is the Television set, tape recorder etc.
· Software: this classification made up of all materials used with the machine. They carry knowledge or information. They are, films, tapes transparencies.
