How to gain and sustain Pupils Attention in Class.
Whether you teach nursery pupils or secondary school students, getting and keeping the attention of students in class is one of the common challenges that teachers face.
To gain and sustain students' attention requires a teacher's commitment and this is where a teacher's passion for teaching comes to play, really.
Here are a few tips that will help you draw your pupils attention.
- Create a unique attention signal that students can get. Everytime you make this signal, students will understand that you need their attention. A call and response is a good signal idea.
- Make lessons more interactive. Ask students for their opinions on topics.
- Get students physically active. Create activities around lessons that require the class to take physical actions.
- Modify teaching scenery. Come up with new creative classroom space ideas. Learning the same way can be boring for students.
- Wear bright colorful clothes.
- Use humor in your teaching.
- Give students a list of important lessons they need to know.
- Have students take photos of objects that relates to the lesson.
